Played with Jamie at Lesmahagow. Motherwell showed an interest in him while we were there, unfortunately Jamie's work meant his playing with us was difficult. He read the game well, a very good passer and tackler. I played with Jamie at Fernhill to, and he and Andy were a great centre back pairing. He be schocked at this but, I thought he was the best player of all the Martins. Yep and deffo a Rab Retford look a like. Good lad and very good friend.

Unthinkable to have a team from Rutherglen without this guy being in it. Played with all the best teams coming out of Rutherglen. If memory serves me right captained the great Tom Browns team that went 2 years unbeaten in the Cambuslang pub league and won the leagues player of the year, some doing when you think of some of the great players that played in that league.

What a player! One of the best leaders of a team I've seen. Should have gone further in the game!

An absolute honour to be thought of in such high regard, particularly by my former head teacher at Academy (hope you are well)but to be perfectly honest the game was made very easy for me by the presence of an outstanding centre half - BIG ANDY - I am honest enough to admit that he basically did the hard bit and allowed me to look good.

What a player - Mr Versatility, as I watched him playing up front in the Bahamas (top goalscorer and player of the year)and he ended up partnering Rodney Marsh with the Tampa Bay Rowdies (not many know of this as Jamie was in his early thirties at that time). In saying that his best days were playing at the back with Andy (miss you loads) they were the original dynamic duo.
