Just a small addition to my previous post. I was talking to Ian yesterday and realise I was incorrect thinking he had played at Elgin. He did however have a spell at East Stirling and was also commercial manager at Inverness Caley

I know Ian. He now lives in Montrose and is retired. In his spare time he sings and plays guitar to entertain the residents in old folks homes. He enjoys a drink and likes to talk about his playing days. I think he said he also played at Elgin in the early 70's.

Ian Waddell lived in Fernhill and played for the Academy. He spent most of his career as an outside left. In the mid-sixties when he was 16 years old, he played for Quuens Park against Celtic at Hampden in the Scottish Cup (quarter final?) and lost only 1-0. He played for Scotland schoolboys alongside the great Tony Green. He also played for Scotland Amateurs when they won the Home Chapionship.
