Gainsey was sweeper for the great pollok side who led the first ever central/ayrshire super league from the opening day right thru to the final day towards the end of that season Steve who was having a wonderful season broke his leg in a friendly against one of the old firm he will forever be remembered as a good tackler who read the game well and had a great range of passing he also took penalties that season , Steve s only faults were lack of pace and a hot head , thanks for the memories big man

The stupidest lad in football, while playing for Pollok the handsome chappie managed to get himself barred from the nanny cave that was the pollok social club. While with Dunfermline in order to avoid a fine for his continual time keeping problem he took to the training field after turning up late again dressed as club mascot Sammy the tammy in order to avoid detection. Then there was the teapot incident which is probably best not aired on a public forum lol.
